Dr. Jeff Stoneberg, D.O.

Dr. Jeff Stoneberg is a devoted Medical Director of Palliative Care at Sutter Medical Center in Sacramento, CA, with a rich background in internal medicine and palliative care. Originally from Pittsburgh, PA, Dr. Stoneberg embarked on his medical journey at Penn State University, where he majored in Engineering before shifting to medical studies through a post-baccalaureate program. He earned his medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2001, and completed his residency in internal medicine at Crozer Chester Medical Center. It was here that his passion for supporting terminally ill patients emerged, prompting him to pursue a fellowship in hospice and palliative care at the Institute for Palliative Medicine at San Diego Hospice.

After his fellowship, Dr. Stoneberg worked extensively with hospice patients across various settings, including home care, skilled nursing facilities, and inpatient hospice care, primarily through San Diego Hospice and Scripps Mercy Hospital. His dedication to palliative care led him to Northern California in 2011 to establish the palliative care program at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center. There, he developed both inpatient consultation services and an outpatient palliative care clinic. In 2020, he continued to advance his career and impact in palliative care by joining the team at Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento, where he provides both inpatient and outpatient palliative care consultations, helping to enhance the quality of life for patients with serious illnesses.
